The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate baseball team played in only four games during the Victoria tournament before elimination games were cancelled due to weather last weekend. RFHS then played Marlow (OK) Monday, March 14 and won 4-3 in extra innings.

RFHS is now 7-5 overall and 1-0 in district play.

The Pirates played in two games Thursday, March 10 against Victoria East and Corpus Christi - King.

Victoria East defeated RFHS 6-3 in seven innings.

Ean McPherson pitched five innings, striking out five and allowing two hits.

Trent Upham was 1-4 with two RBI.

King defeated RFHS 12-5 in five innings.

Upham pitched three innings, striking out four and allowing five hits.

McPherson was 1-1 with one RBI and two walks.

RFHS played two more games in a double header Friday, March 11 versus Harker Heights and Floresville.

RFHS defeated Harker Heights 7-6 in four innings.

Isaiah Elizondo pitched three innings, allowing six hits.

McPherson went 1-1 with two RBI and a walk.

RFHS then defeated Floresville 4-1 in six innings to finish the tournament 2-2.

Javier Vela pitched four innings, striking out one and allowing two hits.

Jordan Gibson was 1-2 with one RBI and one walk.

The Pirates then defeated Marlow, a team from Oklahoma, 4-3 in eight innings Monday, March 14 at home.

Unable to close the game in seven innings, RFHS battled back with two outs in the bottom of the 8th to bring home the game-winning run with base hits by Vela and Carsen Flores.

Kyle Novak and Sean Howell both pitched four innings. Howell led with six strikeouts. Novak finished with two strikeouts.

Devan Phillips was 2-3 with one walk.

RFHS continued district play Tuesday, March 15 with a game at Whataburger Field against the Miller Buccaneers.
