The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) boys’ powerlifting team competed in a quad meet at Skidmore-Tynan High School Thursday, Jan. 23.

No team awards were given for the meet, but the Pirates had six lifters place first in their weight division.

“Our Pirate Powerlifting team had an unbelievable performance at the Skidmore-Tynan quad meet,” said RFHS Head Boys Powerlifting Coach Robie Robbins. “As a team we brought home 11 medals, six of them being gold.”

Medaling in the top three of their weight class are as follows:

At 114 lbs., David Chittarath placed first, lifting a total of 735 lbs.

At 123 lbs., Cody Davila placed first, lifting a total of 845 lbs.

At 148 lbs., John Chupe placed first, lifting a total of 985 lbs.

At 181 lbs., Victor Pena placed third, lifting a total of 765 lbs.

At 198 lbs., Ean McPherson placed first, lifting a total of 1,165 lbs.

At 220 lbs., Christian Jolley placed second, lifting a total of 980 lbs.

At 220 lbs., Joey Cantu placed first, lifting a total of 1,150 lbs.

At 242 lbs., Jonas Olivarez placed second, lifting a total of 1,025 lbs.

At 275 lbs., Brandon Kilough placed first, lifting a total of 1,480 lbs.

At 275 lbs., Luis Aguilar placed third, lifting a total of 1,100 lbs.

The boys’ team will take a three weak break from competition before their next meet Saturday, Feb. 22 in Beeville. The Lady Pirate Powerlifting teams’ next meet is Saturday, Feb. 8 at Santa Gertrudis Academy in Kingsville.
