Brandon Cunningham takes off after receiving the baton in the Pirates big-man relays.

The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) varsity boys and girls track teams competed in the Toast of the Coast home meet Friday, March 6 in Rockport.

The RFHS varsity boys team placed second with 162 points. Gregory-Portland (GP) won the meet with 232 points. The RFHS junior varsity boys track team placed second, also behind GP.

Varsity pirates placing in the top three in their respective events are as follows:

The RFHS 400 meter relay team placed third with a time of 44.89.

George Marable placed first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.37. He also placed first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.58.

Sean Lovett placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.84.

The RFHS 800 meter relay team placed first with a time of 1:33.52.

Scott Salinas placed second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 43.88.

The RFHS 1600 meter relay team placed second with a time of 3:38.97.

Cruz Estrada placed first in shot put with a throw of 44’3.5”. He also placed third in discus with a throw of 133’4.5”.

Edgar Deleon placed second in long jump with a distance of 20’.

Jacob Brake placed second in high jump with a height of 5’8”. He also placed second in pole vault with a height of 14’6” and third in long jump with a distance of 19’9.5”.

The RFHS varsity girls team placed third with 112 points, trailing GP with 199 points and Veterans Memorial in first place with 201.5 points.

Varsity Lady Pirates placing in the top three in their respective events are as follows:

Emilee Sturgeon placed third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:07.

The RFHS Lady Pirate 400 meter relay team placed third with a time of 51.19.

Maddie Myers placed second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:29.18

Kaylee Howell placed first in high jump with a height of 5’2”. She also placed first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 48.75 and second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.28.

Mikey Dominguez placed first in pole vault with a height of 11’. She also placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.93.

The RFHS Lady Pirate 800 meter relay team placed second with a time of 1:50.02.

Keyandra Buenoano placed third in shot put with a throw of 32’5.75”.

The Pirates’ next meet will be Friday, March 20 in Aransas Pass. The Lady Pirates next meet will be Saturday, March 21 in George West.
