The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate basketball team won its first district game of the season Tuesday, Jan. 5 in a clash with the Beeville Trojans 49-46 at home.

RFHS improves its district record to 1-1 and holds an overall record of 7-8.

After a tough loss at West Oso, RFHS rebounded with a win in another close fight to the finish.

Joshua Hadley led RFHS in scoring with 14 points.

Chance Bates and Mathew Vasquez followed with nine points, each. All of Bates’ nine points came from the free throw line, going 9-10.

RFHS played at Ingleside Friday, Jan. 8. Their next game is 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12 against Sinton.
