The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate varsity cross-country team finished in sixth place as a team in the Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi Islander Splash Saturday, Sept. 21.

The varsity team finished sixth overall out 42 teams that competed in the race.

RFHS Cross Country Coach David Rice said the team ran really well considering that their closest district rival, Robstown, finished in 20th place as a team.

Riley Parker placed 20th with a time of 13:34, Maddie Myers finished 32nd with a time of 13:51, and Emilee Sturgeon finished 51st with a time of 14:10 to round out the top three for RFHS.

Belle Eaton, 68th, and Kaylee Howell, 98th, also finished in the top 100 out of more than 300 runners.

The JV girls placed 10th.

The boys’ cross-country team had three runners competing in the junior varsity division.

The teams’ next meet will be Saturday, Sept. 28 in Calallen.
