The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate softball team opened district play Tuesday, March 2 with a 4-2 victory at Calhoun.

RFHS starts the district season 1-0 with a 9-0 overall record.

The Lady Pirates had a tough time bringing in runs despite hitting 10 balls against the Sandies pitcher.

Nonetheless, Siarah Galvan contained Calhoun, pitching all seven innings. She allowed only one earned run and struck out 12. She also went 2-4 batting, scored a run, and brought in two runners.

Krystal Kutach was 1-3 with one RBI.

RFHS was also recently ranked as the #1 4A softball team in the state, according to the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll.

RFHS is currently playing in the Victoria East tournament. Their next game is 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9 at Miller.
