The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate basketball team performed well in the top bracket of a tournament in Floresville last weekend and began the Thanksgiving break with a win 70-37 over Gregory-Portland (GP) Monday, Nov. 22.

The Lady Pirates are now 11-3 overall.

Last weekend, RFHS competed in the gold bracket of the Floresville tournament and went undefeated until the championship game, losing to 6A San Antonio (SA) Clemens 63-35 for a second place runner-up finish (4-1).

In game one, RFHS defeated SA Cole 43-37.

Kaylee Howell led RFHS in scoring with 23 points. Lilith Solis followed with 7 points.

In game two, RFHS defeated SA Roosevelt 60-26.

Howell led RFHS in scoring with 18 points. Solis followed with 16 points. Mikayla Molina hit two 3-point FG’s.

In game three, RFHS defeated SA Lanier 60-51.

Howell led RFHS in scoring with 23 points. Jordan Malone followed with 13 points, hitting three 3-point FG’s. Messiah Hernandez added two 3-point FG’s.

In game four, RFHS defeated Somerset 64-47.

Howell led RFHS in scoring with 18 points. Malone followed with 17 points, hitting five 3-point FG’s. Hernandez added two 3-point FG’s.

In the championship game, RFHS lost to SA Clemens 63-35.

Howell led RFHS in scoring with 18 points. Solis followed with nine points.

On Monday, Nov. 22, RFHS entered the Thanksgiving break with a 70-37 victory over GP.

Howell led RFHS in scoring with 24 points.

Malone followed with 21 points, hitting five 3-point FG’s.

Solis scored eight points.

RFHS will play their next game at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 versus Aransas Pass.
