The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate basketball team placed third in its home tournament Monday, Dec. 30 and Tuesday, Dec. 31.

RFHS will finish the non-district season with an overall record of 14-6.

The Pirates finished its home tourney 3-1, placing third behind second place Hallettsville and first place Aransas Pass.

On day one, RFHS narrowly defeated Devine 51-50 in game one. In game two, RFHS handily defeated Bandera 58-32.

In day two, RFHS opened with a loss to Hallettsville 56-45. In RFHS’ second game, Gregory-Portland (GP) forced overtime after hitting a three-point field goal with one second left in regulation. However, the Pirates shut down GP in one overtime period for a 62-57 victory.

RFHS opened district play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 at home against Ingleside.
