The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate varsity cross-country team finished second place in the Shiner Invitational Saturday, Oct. 12.

The Lady Pirates finished second to a tough Yoakum team, but bested teams such as Cedar Creek, Calhoun, Victoria East, and El Campo.

The teams’ top two runners broke the 13-minute mark on the 2-mile course for the first time this season. The teams’ top five runners medaled and finished within 35 seconds of the lead runner.

The junior varsity team won its division with a score of 18; 15 is a perfect score.

RFHS will prepare for the Distrcit 31-4A meet next week starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at Live Oak Park in Ingleside.
