The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate baseball team defeated the Kingsville Brahmas with big hits at the plate to carry them over the top 13-5 Tuesday, March 26.
RFHS is now 4-3 in district and 12-7 overall.
Garrett Loudermilk was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts and allowed four earned runs.
Through two innings, RFHS held a small 2-1 lead before erupting in the third inning with seven runs to build a 9-3 lead that remained until the sixth inning.
In the sixth, Kingsville answered with two runs in hopes of leading a comeback that brought the score at 9-5.
In the seventh, RFHS caught fire at the plate again with four more runs to give them a sizeable lead heading into the bottom half. Kingsville then failed to bring a runner to first base and RFHS finished with a 13-5 win.
Clay Williams finished with three hits and two runs batted in (RBI).
Adam Muirhead finished with two hits and two RBI’s.
Tanor Waggoner and Michael Mayes finished with two hits and one RBI each.
RFHS played Robstown Friday, March 29. Their next game is 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 against Ingleside.
