Maddie Mann and Mikey Dominguez were a part of this year’s winning team during the UA Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. The girls took a photo on the field after winning the championship game 3-2.

Two Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate softball players, Mikey Dominguez and Maddie Mann, were selected to play in the 2020 Under Armour (UA) Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Saturday, Jan. 18 and Sunday, Jan. 19 at the ScrapYard Sports Complex in Conroe.

It was the girls’ third time playing in the tournament and it was the first time the girls played together on the same tournament team.

UA All-Americans are split between five teams for the tournament and play each other once to determine the top two teams to play for the championship. Mikey and Maddie’s team made it to the championship game and won 3-2. Both girls were also starters for their team. Mikey played catcher and Maddie played shortstop.

The girls were allowed the opportunity to play in the tournament after being tested on numerous physical and mental assessments throughout 2019 to ensure they were at the top of their game. Their play in the Legacy Games and with the Southern Stars of the UA Softball Factory National team in Georgia also propelled them into the UA Softball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament for 2020.

The event was hosted and run by current and former professional softball players and team USA Olympic softball players.

The girls were also coached by gold medalist and three-time All-American softball player Jennie Finch.

They are heading into their junior season with the RFHS softball team and are expecting a very successful year.
