The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate volleyball team defended its home court against the Beeville Lady Trojans in three sets, 25-19, 25-6, and 25-18, Tuesday, Oct. 8.

RFHS’ overall record moves to 22-12 and 7-1 in district play.

The Lady Pirates are currently second place in District 31-4A standings and are two games ahead of third place teams Orange Grove and Robstown. Sinton remains in first place with an 8-0 record.

In set one, RFHS jumped out to a 7-1 lead, exposing the backcourt defense of Beeville. After a long break following an injury to a Lady Trojan, Beeville climbed back into the game with strong defense in the frontcourt to make it 17-16. RFHS eventually settled back into the game and pulled away from Beeville to take set one 25-19.

In set two, RFHS got off to another strong 7-1 start with Kaylee Howell leading the way at the net. Backcourt play by Emily Resendez and Faith Ngo helped RFHS build a big lead as the set continued. RFHS continued to separate from Beeville with strong offensive play and took the set by a wide margin 25-6.

In set three, both teams battled back and forth to start the set. Both teams traded points until RFHS went on a long rally to take a 14-6 lead. Beeville continued to battle and eventually put the set within three of RFHS at 20-17. However, RFHS pulled away again in the latter part of the set to win 25-18.

Howell led RFHS in kills with eight. Lauren Moore followed with seven kills.

Molly Frost led RFHS in assists with 16. Mikayla Molina followed with 11 assists.

Faith Ngo led RFHS in aces with four. Frost followed with three.

Howell led RFHS in blocks with two.

Emily Resendez led RFHS in digs with seven.

Howell leads RFHS in kills on the year with 192. Allie Manson trails with 187.

Frost leads RFHS in assists on the year with 409. Molina trails with 260.

Molina leads RFHS in aces on the year with 35. Howell trails with 32.

Howell leads RFHS in blocks on the year with 75. Jackie Simmonds trails with 40.

Resendez leads RFHS in digs with 206. Frost trails with 132.

RFHS played Sinton Friday

, Oct. 11. Their next game is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Kingsville.
