The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate softball team built up a 6-0 lead through four innings and poured it on in the final two innings with nine more runs to defeat the Kingsville Lady Brahmas 15-1 Tuesday, March 26 in Kingsville.
RFHS improves its overall record to 14-6 and district record 4-4.
Siarah Galvan was the starting pitcher for RFHS and recorded 12 strikeouts. She was also proficient at the plate with four hits, one being a homerun, and five runs batted in (RBI).
In the first inning, RFHS took a 2-0 lead with runs scored by Mikey Dominguez beating a tag at home plate and Krystal Kutach grounding out to bring in Kelsey Polasek from third.
In the third, Galvan put RFHS up 4-0 with a two-run homerun that sailed over the leftfield wall and brought in Maddie Mann.
In the fourth, Mann and Kutach brought in two more runs to give RFHS a 6-0 lead.
In the bottom half, Kingsville scored their first and only point of the game off of two hits.
Following the fourth inning, RFHS didn’t score in the fifth but followed that with nine runs scored in the sixth and seventh innings combined to swiftly pull away from Kingsville 15-1.
Dominguez finished with four hits, one RBI, and forced a walk. Dominguez and Galvan accounted for eight of RFHS’ 16 hits.
Ashton Hargrove recorded two hits and two RBI’s.
RFHS played Robstown Friday, March 29. Their next game is 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 against Ingleside.
