The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate soccer team lost to the Calhoun Sandcrabs 5-2 Tuesday, Feb. 12 at home.
RFHS’ district record moves to 1-1 with an overall record of 4-5.
The Pirates were outgunned in the second half as Calhoun netted three more goals after the break.
After a 20 minute stalemate, Calhoun struck first with two quick goals in the 24th and 29th minutes.
RFHS scored its first goal in the final minute of the half from Richard Lizcano. Lizcano took advantage of a loose ball in front of the net after a shot by Max Carreon was deflected by the Calhoun keeper and cleaned up by Lizcano in the goalie’s box. RFHS trailed Calhoun 2-1 at the half.
In the second half, RFHS allowed two more goals inside the first 20 minutes.
Cristobol Deleon scored RFHS’ next and last goal of the game in the 72nd minute on a penalty kick that went into the left corner.
Calhoun scored once more in the final eight minutes, sealing the 5-2 victory.
RFHS’ next game is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 at home against Yoakum.
