The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) boys and girls track teams missed out on their first two track meets of the season due to the arctic fronts that blew in over the last week. Scheduled meets in Gregory-Portland and Corpus Christi were both cancelled. However, the teams secured their first meet of the season on short notice Saturday, Feb. 20 in Ingleside.

The varsity boys team placed third overall. The junior varsity (JV) team placed second.

The varsity girls team placed third overall. The JV team placed fifth.

Varsity Pirates placing in the top three in their respective events are as follows:

George Marable placed first in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.36. He also placed second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.24.

The Pirates’ 800 meter relay team placed third with a time of 1:37.

The Pirates’ 1600 meter relay team placed second with a time of 3:35.53

Payton McAlister placed second in discus with a throw of 128’10”.

LeRoy Burke placed third in pole vault with a jump of 11’.

Varsity Lady Pirates placing in the top three in their respective events are as follows:

Emilee Sturgeon placed third in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:52.

Savannah Cassady placed second in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:06.83.

The Lady Pirates’ 1600 meter relay team placed second with a time of 4:44.74.

Caitlyn Ramaker placed first in long jump with a leap of 15’10”. She also placed second in triple jump with a leap of 33’5”.

Faith Ngo placed third in long jump with a leap of 15’7”. She also placed third in high jump with a leap of 4’8”.

Mikey Dominguez placed first in pole vault with a jump of 10’.

RFHS’ next meet will be Thursday, Feb. 25 in Calhoun.
