The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate volleyball team is clicking through the first two games of the postseason with shutout victories over Calhoun and Sweeny.

After defeating Calhoun in three sets Friday Oct. 29 at home, RFHS took the #1 seed heading into the playoffs and defeated Sweeny in three sets Monday, Nov. 1 in Tidehaven.

RFHS currently holds an overall record of 29-7.

The Lady Pirates will play the winner between La Vernia and Davenport. Their game was played Tuesday, Nov. 2, after press deadline.

With Calhoun and RFHS splitting district matchups at 1-1 in the regular season, both teams decided to play for the #1 seed at RFHS.

The Lady Pirates shut out Calhoun in three sets, 25-21, 28-26, and 25-17.

The Sandies hung with RFHS in the first two sets, with set two being decided in extra rallies.

After the big win in set two, RFHS pulled away from Calhoun midway through set three.

It was a statement win for the Lady Pirates considering the three-set loss at Calhoun on October 12.

Kaylee Howell led RFHS offensively with 21 kills. Lauren Moore followed with 14.

Sophia Byrom led RFHS in assists with 20. Mikayla Molina followed with 15.

Payton Martinez and Moore led RFHS defensively as both players recorded 26 digs each. Jessica Schibi followed with 21 digs.

Kaylie Skinner led RFHS in blocks with three. Howell and Kiley Kopp followed with two blocks each.

Against Sweeny, RFHS played an even more dominant game against the #4 seed Lady Bulldogs.

In set one, RFHS took a 7-0 lead early in the set and stayed in front for the 25-10 victory.

In set two, Sweeny took a small lead but was overtaken by the Lady Pirates after tying it up at 11-all. RFHS took a lead from there and never looked back in the 25-18 win.

In set three, the game was close early in the set, but RFHS separated after taking a 7-5 lead and dominated the rest of the way.

Martinez led RFHS defensively with 12 digs. Molina, Schibi, and Moore followed with 11, 10, and 10 digs.

Howell led RFHS in blocks with five.

Molina led RFHS offensively with 16 assists. Byrom followed with 12.

Howell led RFHS in kills with nine. Moore followed with eight.

Skinner led RFHS in aces with three.

Possible dates for their area round game are Thursday, Nov. 4, Friday, Nov. 5, or Saturday, Nov. 6.
