The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate volleyball team played a tough opponent in the Calallen Lady Wildcats and struggled to find an answer late in sets in a 3-0 loss Tuesday, Aug. 31 at Calallen.
The Lady Pirates lost in set one 25-15, set two 25-22, and set three 25-19.
RFHS’ overall record moves to 13-6.
It was tough sledding for RFHS as Calallen challenged the Lady Pirates defense often. Both teams contested each other early in sets, but Calallen eventually pulled away late in each set.
RFHS never quite found a rhythm offensively as no Lady Pirate accounted for more than five kills in the game.
RFHS, normally proficient in serving, struggled to find a weakness on the Calallen back line to attack.
Kiley Kopp, Kaylie Skinner, and Lauren Moore led RFHS in kills with four each.
Sophia Byrom led RFHS in assists with eight. Mikayla Molina followed with five. Byrom also led in service aces with two.
Defensively, Kaylee Howell and Skinner led RFHS in blocks with four each.
Payton Martinez led RFHS in digs with 17. Jessica Schibi followed with eight.
RFHS played Skidmore-Tynan Friday, Sept. 3. Their next game is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 at home against Bishop.
