The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate softball team shut out the district leader Sinton Lady Pirates with a solo homerun in the first inning to clinch the third playoff seed in District 31-4A Friday, April 12 at home.
RFHS’ sixth straight victory gives them a 9-4 district record and 19-6 overall.
With one game remaining, RFHS will hold on to the third seed in District 31-4A, win or lose.
Siarah Galvan completed a difficult task in holding Sinton to zero runs; striking out 12 batters, allowing only four hits and walking zero batters.
In the first inning, RFHS scored the only run of the game and held on for six more innings.
Mikey Dominguez was the difference maker at bat with a solo homerun laser over the centerfield wall that gave RFHS the 1-0 lead in the first.
While Galvan shut down Sinton batters, RFHS also struggled to get anything going offensively. Allowing only two hits, Maddie Mann was the only other RFHS batter to hit off Sinton.
Both teams were also errorless.
RFHS’ final district game was Tuesday, April 16 at Beeville.
After their final district game, RFHS will play the second seed in District 32-4A in the first round of the playoffs. At time of press deadline, their next opponent will be either Rio Hondo or Port Isabel. Both teams are within one game of each other in District 32-4A standings.
