The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate softball team shut down the Orange Grove (OG) Lady Bulldogs 7-0 Tuesday, April 9 at home.
The victory extends their winning streak to five games as they remain undefeated through the second half of district play.
RFHS is now 8-4 in district and 18-6 overall with two district games remaining. They currently hold third place spot in District 31-4A standings; two games behind Beeville, and two games in front of a three-way tie for fourth place.
Siarah Galvan was the winning pitcher, allowing only one hit and striking out 12 batters.
RFHS brought in their first run of the game in the second inning off an error and ended the inning with a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, RFHS took a 4-0 lead off a sac-bunt by Jayden Longino to bring in Krystal Kutach from third.
In the sixth inning, Maddie Mann extended RFHS’ lead even further with a three-run homerun that sailed over the centerfield wall. The homer gave RFHS a 7-0 cushion into the seventh.
Galvan continued to shut down OG batters into the seventh, giving RFHS their fifth straight win 7-0.
Mann led RFHS offensively, going 2-3, including one homerun, and four runs batted in (RBI).
Jade Gonzalez finished with two RBI’s.
Kelsey Polasek went 3-3 at bat.
RFHS played Sinton Friday, April 12. Their next game is 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at Beeville.
