Carsen Flores delivers a pitch in the second inning versus West Oso.

The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate baseball team used 16 hits and 11 walks to rack up 20 runs in a fifth inning run-rule blowout over the West Oso Bears Thursday, April 14 at home.

RFHS moved to 8-1 in district play and 15-7 overall.

West Oso struggled to slow down the Pirates at-bat as RFHS built up a 16-0 lead in the first two innings.

From then, the Pirates coasted offensively to end the game in the fifth inning.

Carsen Flores started and pitched two innings. He had two strikeouts and one walk.

Trent Upham pitched in relief and struck out seven batters. He was also 1-2 at bat with two RBI and one walk.

Ean McPherson led RFHS offensively, going 3-3 with five RBI and two runs.

Jordan Gibson was 3-3 with two RBI and two runs.

Devan Phillips was 1-1 with one RBI, two runs, and two walks.

With two weeks left in District 26-4A play, RFHS remains in second place behind 9-0 Sinton. RFHS’ only district loss this season was to Sinton. They will play again in the last week of district play next week.

RFHS played Beeville Tuesday, April 19. Their next game is 7 p.m. Friday, April 22 at home versus Ingleside.
