Great, but called back

Pirate Gavin Mayfield strolls into the endzone for a pick-six after intercepting the Progreso quarterback late in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, the score was called back on a penalty, but the interception stood. It would have given the Pirates another touchdown on top of its true final score of 61-0 over Progreso in its Bi-District game Thursday, Nov. 14, in Falfurrias. The Pirates will advance to the Area round next week to face either Bandera or Hondo. The Bandera-Hondo game was played Friday, Nov. 15. See midweek edition for game story and playoff information.
