Former Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Assistant Baseball Coach Arturo “Tudi” Elizondo was recently named the Pirates new Head Baseball Coach; replacing former Pirates skipper Jerry Howell.
Howell accepted a position as an assistant principal in Ingleside.
“I am excited about Coach Elizondo becoming the new Head Baseball Coach,” said RFHS Athletic Director Jay Seibert. “He is a natural leader and a great baseball mind. Coach Elizondo is going to do great things with our baseball program.”
Elizondo began his teaching/coaching career in 2003 at Gregory-Portland Independent School District as an assistant baseball coach.
In 2008, he was hired as Head Baseball Coach in Ingleside and spent four years there, making the playoffs in his final year with the program in 2012.
After spending two years in Robstown as Assistant Head Football Coach and an assistant baseball coach, Elizondo was hired at RFHS. He’s been affiliated with the RFHS Baseball program since 2014.
“Taking over the Pirates Baseball program is special to me. To be in charge of what is going to happen in the future for this program is exciting,” said Elizondo. “I’ve been coaching for 16 years, and I’ve learned that the most important thing is to win, but to make it exciting and fun at the same time! I’ve been around baseball my whole life, and have learned from the best coaches in the area and the state. I can’t wait for the season to begin!”
Elizondo is married with two children.
