Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Head Softball Coach Melissa Reyes was recently hired from within to be the new Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD) Girls Athletic Coordinator.

The position was left vacant after the ACISD placed former girls athletic coordinator Mark Malone on administrative leave in March 2020. The ACISD school board then approved to terminate Malone’s contract at the end of its term at an April 2020 regular meeting.

Reyes has been with the ACISD for 19 years and has been the RFHS Head Softball Coach for the last 11 years. She has also coached in numerous other sports in her time at ACISD, such as middle school volleyball, basketball, track, and high school basketball.

She’s received numerous recognitions in her time at ACISD, including Softball Coach of the Year in the district in 2016 and 2018, and the Texas Girls Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year in 2011.

She will begin her 20th year with the ACISD as Girls Athletics Coordinator and RFHS Head Softball Coach for the 2020-21 school year.
