The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate football team dominated the Progreso Red Ants 61-0 in its bi-district round playoff game Thursday, Nov. 14 in Falfurrias.
RFHS improves its overall record to 8-3.
The Red Ants provided little resistance against the rushing attack of RFHS and were completely outmatched by the Pirates.
In the first half, the Pirates took a blistering 47-0 lead with touchdowns coming in one after the other.
Garrett Loudermilk scored on all three of his rushing attempts and ran for 80 yards.
Joe Franks, who caught one pass from Cass Flores and carried the ball one time, scored each time he touched the ball; rushing for a 47-yard touchdown (TD) and catching a 60-yard TD.
Clay Williams also contributed to the first half score with a 47-yard interception return TD.
Add in one more rushing TD from Ryan Wells, and the Pirates held its 47-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, the Pirates’ first team offense was done for the night. The first team defense saw a few more reps but was eventually relieved in the third quarter with Progreso offering little challenge offensively.
With the second team offense in, Luke Muirhead scored on his lone carry of the night on a 54-yard TD run.
Cristian Kane got the bulk of the work for the Pirates in the second half, rushing eight times for 52 yards and one TD.
The Pirates finished with a total of 389 yards for 61 points.
Progreso managed only 101 yards throughout against the Pirates’ suffocating defense.

Nathan Cason tallied eight tackles.
Brandon Kilough had seven tackles.
Payton McAlister led the team defensively in tackles for loss with four.
Cole Hudgins led RFHS in sacks with one.
Along with Williams, Gavin Mayfield also had one interception that was almost a pick six as well. However, a penalty called back the touchdown but not the takeaway.
The Pirates will play the Hondo Owls in the area round of the playoffs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22 at Edgewood Veterans Stadium in San Antonio.
Hondo, a second seed, defeated the Bandera Bulldogs 21-14 Friday, Nov. 15.
