The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate basketball team returned to the court following the Christmas break and picked up a third straight victory in defeating the King Mustangs 60-59 Monday, Dec. 28 at home.

RFHS’ game against King was their last non-district game of the season. They will enter the district season with an overall record of 6-7.

Against King, the Pirates led a fourth quarter comeback in which they scored 21 fourth quarter points to erase a 12-point deficit at the end of the third quarter.

It was a total team effort, with four Pirates scoring at least 10 points during the game.

Mathew Vasquez led RFHS in scoring with 15 points.

Chance Bates followed with 14 points, Joshua Hadley scored 11 points, and Josh Lee dropped 10 points.

RFHS will start the district season at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31 at West Oso.
