The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate softball team (#1) clinched their first district championship since 2016 after a fifth inning run-rule shutout of the Ingleside Lady Mustangs 10-0 Tuesday, April 20 in Ingleside.
RFHS extends their undefeated district record to 10-0, with an overall record of 22-1. RFHS is also currently on a 13-game win streak.
With two games remaining, RFHS’s win over Ingleside clinched the District 26-4A Championship over second place Sinton, who was two games behind RFHS.
RFHS’ last game against Ingleside Tuesday, March 23 went 10 innings, and required some late-game heroics from Piper Shearer to win it 2-0.
This time around, RFHS run-ruled Ingleside in five innings. RFHS Head Softball Coach Melissa Reyes said her team executed much better at the plate.
“The girls came in more confident, they mixed it up with small ball. Small ball, big results,” said Reyes. “And then just having really good, big timely hits from our power hitters. They just did a good job executing as a team.”
RFHS used nine hits and forced five errors to generate 10 runs in five innings.
Pitcher Siarah Galvan put together another shutout performance. She finished with 13 strikeouts and allowed only two hits in five innings.
The game began to open up for RFHS in the third inning with back-to-back three run legs in the third and fourth innings.
Maddie Mann was perfect at the plate, going 3-3 with 2 RBI’s and scored three times.
Alana Garcia was also perfect at-bat, going 3-3 with one RBI and two scores.

RFHS’ last district game of the season is 7 p.m. Monday, April 26 against Sinton at home.
RFHS will play the fourth seed of District 25-4A in the first round of the postseason. As it stands, Brazosport holds the fourth seed.
