The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Lady Pirate volleyball team defeated the West Oso Lady Bears in four sets Friday, Sept. 25 at home.

RFHS now holds a 5-1 district record and an overall record of 7-6.

In District 26-4A standings, RFHS is in second place. Sinton remains in first place with a 6-0 record.

RFHS defeated West Oso in four sets, 25-19, 14-25, 25-19, and 25-11.

After a set one victory, RFHS fell behind in set two after Oso took advantage of a few defensive misplays to take a 15-7 lead. Oso held onto its lead to take set two 25-14.

In set three, both teams played a contested match in early rallies with RFHS holding onto a small 15-13 lead. After scoring their 16th point, RFHS pulled away from Oso and went on to win set three 25-19.

In set four, RFHS started fast and quickly took a big lead over Oso and continued to build on it; eventually taking the set and game 25-11.

Messiah Hernandez led RFHS offensively with 22 assists. Mikayla Molina followed with eight assists.

Kaylee Howell led RFHS in kills with 15. Lauren Moore followed with eight.

Payton Martinez led RFHS defensively with 25 digs. Jessica Schibi followed with 13 digs.

Howell led RFHS in blocks with six. Lilith Solis followed with two blocks.

RFHS played Calhoun Tuesday, Sept. 29. Their next game is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 at home against Beeville.
