The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) Pirate baseball team defeated the West Oso Bears 10-0 behind a perfect outing on the mound by Carsen Flores in five innings Friday, April 16 at Oso.

With RFHS’ win over Oso and Ingleside’s loss to Calhoun, RFHS clinched its first postseason berth since 2017. Currently, the Pirates sit in third place in District 26-4A with a 6-3 district record. Sinton is in first place with a 9-0 record and Calhoun is in second with an 8-2 record.

RFHS’ overall record stands at 14-8-1.

Against Oso, starting pitcher Flores threw his first perfect game of his high school varsity career.

In five innings, Flores threw 44 pitches, struck out six, allowed 0 hits and 0 walks.

Flores said it was a good feeling being able to throw his first perfect game and to do it with a group of guys he’s been playing with for a long time.

“These are my brothers. I’ve been playing with them for a long time, and to get it done with them is pretty awesome,” said Flores.

At the plate, RFHS didn’t quite get up to speed until a six-run third inning put them up 9-0 over the Bears.

Luke Muirhead led the charge with a 2-RBI single to centerfield.

RFHS scored once more in the top of the 5th to force the 10-run ruling.

Muirhead was 1-3 with two RBI’s and scored three times.

Ace Seibert was 2-3 with one RBI.

Devan Phillips was 1-2 with one RBI.

Ean McPherson was 2-2 and scored one.

RFHS played Beeville Tuesday, April 20. Their next game is 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 23 at Ingleside.
