The Aransas County Independent School District birding teams took their second field trip of the year to the Nueces Delta Preserve (NDP) near Odem Saturday, Nov. 14.

The more than 10,000 acre preservation protects valuable wetland habitat and offers engaging field experiences for area students.

Located at the north end of Nueces Bay, the property protects a variety of habitats and is known for the quality of its conservation and land management practices.

Fulton Learning Center students were fortunate to have beautiful weather and with the assistance of four NDP volunteers were able to log down 57 species of birds.

Students participating in this event included Ryan Brewington, Kinslee Burton, Cruz Dominguez, Conner Hale, Riley Waggoner, Logann Wood, Blaine Chapman, Kennedy Engel, Everett Gambill, Paris Guthrie, Samuel Lynch, Ella Buckley, Pasquale Dominguez, Sara Goode, Bryant Manning, Kayden Tran, and Hollis Weems.

Students were accompanied by their FLC school sponsor Martha McLeod and FLC instructional aide Tiffany Wood. Rockport-Fulton Middle School honor student Adyson Burton served as a junior volunteer instructional assistant by recording and keeping a list of all bird species seen.
