Kitty Dudics will host a two-day workshop entitled the “Secrets of Landscape Painting Workshop” from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Rockport Center for the Arts.
Inspired by color, luminosity, and pattern, Dudics is a lifelong painter of figures, fabrics, and coastal landscapes. In the landscapes, she captures the atmosphere of the environment through the ebullient application of paint and rendering of naturally occurring patterns. Similarly, her figurative work reveals the subject’s soul through their pose and facial expression.
“Being surrounded by nature is a spiritual experience for me. I respond to the landscape, from bodies of water to the spacious skies, to varieties of plant life in my environment. I feel emotional reactions to color relationships in nature & enjoy expressing its range & luminosity,” said Dudics.
She moved to Corpus Christi in 1981, where she taught art at Del Mar College for 34 years. Since her retirement, she spends time painting in her studio, which she has named Girasol, Spanish for Sunflower. In 2017, she was chosen by Texas Monthly Magazine as one of their “Top Ten Artists in Texas to Collect.” Her work can be found in the collections of the Art Museum of South Texas, the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Tuition to the two-day workshop is $200 for members and $250 for non-members.
