Accepting donations from money raised at the “A Fifth of Harvey” event are, from left, Jessica Solis (Chucky’s Quest), Dianne Nielsen (Children’s Coalition of Aransas County), and Ronnie Medina (Boys and Girls Club of Aransas County).

Local residents Danny Carpenter and Terry Palmer decided the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Harvey was a good time to celebrate Rockport’s strength and resilience, and use the occasion to raise money for children’s charities that are working hard to help our community continue to thrive.

The celebration, dubbed “A Fifth of Harvey”, was held Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Fulton Fairgrounds. The event featured a barbecue, a children’s activity area set up and operated by the Boys and Girls Club of Aransas County, and music provided by The Steel Water Band, Astro Catz, and the Joe Fox Band.
