Authors Kay Betz and Vickie Merchant will autograph their new book, The ABCs of the Rockport-Fulton Art Colony: Artists & Their Inspiration, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at the History Center for Aransas County (801 E. Cedar St.). The book chronicles the history of the Aransas County art community for younger readers. The hard-back will sell for $45 and the soft-back for $35.

Light refreshments will be served.

Topics in the book include bird migration, protecting endangered, and artist diversity, as well as local art history. Historical subjects such as Native Americans, the seafood industry, packing companies, and historic restoration are also covered.

The authors worked on the book with local teachers and artists. The HEB Tournament of Champions funded this book.

The ABC’s book is a companion to The Story of the Rockport-Fulton Art Colony: How a Coastal Texas Town Became an Art Enclave, which is based on the 2017 exhibit at the History Center that focused on the development of the art colony.

Work from many colony artists is included in the book, along with historical photographs.

The History Center is open Friday (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Saturday and Sunday (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.), and Monday (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
