The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) band has performed well in various University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) competitions this fall and winter.

In the UIL Region Marching Band competition on October 16, RFHS performed music from the musical ‘Les Miserables’ and earned 1st division ratings across the board.

In the UIL Area Marching Band competition on October 30, RFHS Band Director Ryan Thornberry said the band performed well but did not advance to state.

Sixteen RFHS band members competed in the TMEA Region Band Auditions Saturday, Dec. 4 in Alice. Thornberry said the competition was more challenging this year, with five additional schools dropping down from the 5A level, but 10 students qualified for the region band. Three of those 10 students also scored well enough to advance to Area competition.
