Approximately 6,600 people attended the 49th Annual Rockport Art Festival July 7 and 8.
It is approximately 3,000 less visitors as compared to last year.
The best day was Saturday, with more than 5,000 people attending. Sunday’s storms and the time lapse from the 4th of July to the date of the festival hurt attendance for that day.
More than 120 artists from California to Florida displayed their wares and reported very strong sales.
The art center conducted 116 surveys with artists who reported positive experiences and strong sales, some record breaking.
The most robust market this year was San Antonio, with 13 percent of visitors coming from there.
The rural market from outside 70 miles of Rockport was the strongest, with over 18% of visitors from the outlying areas to the Corpus Christi and Victoria demographic market areas.
Visitors from major metropolitan accounted for 29% of total attendance. There was also a slight growth in visitors from Austin and drop in visitors from Houston as compared to last year.
The festival was advertised on digital media and television, including several spot runs during FIFA World Cup matches.
