Fulton Learning Center (FLC) recently held its annual science fair Monday, Dec. 16 and Tuesday, Dec. 17. The FLC staff was impressed by the participating students working hard to turn in quality projects and going above and beyond their normal academic studies.

Judges for this year’s science fair included Fulton Mayor Jimmy Kendrick, Rockport Mayor Pat Rios, FLC Parent Teacher Organization member Kimberlie Jones, Shawn Carruth, Aransas County Independent School District Federal Programs Director Molly Adams, Aransas County Navigation District (ACND) Harbor Master Keith Barrett, and ACND Commissioner Chairman Malcolm Dieckow.

FLC Science Fair winners are as follows:

Third grade

First place – Ginger Carpenter

Second place – Alyssa Wilson

Third place – Ava De Los Santos

Honorable mention – Noah Reininger, Brayden Wilson, and Diego Alvar

Fourth grade

First place – Ryan Brewington

Second place – Ethan Dworaczyk

Third place – Aubree Morales

Honorable mention – Riley Waggoner

Fifth grade

First place – Kathryn Jones

Second place – Tanner Starling

Third place – Joseph Mace-Troche

Honorable mention – Elsa Shatraw and Elsie Hale

The top three winners in each grade were awarded gift cards from the Town of Fulton for their academic efforts. First place winners received $50, second place - $25, and third place - $15.

The top three winners in each grade will advance to the Coastal Bend Science Fair at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi from Feb. 7-8 for a chance to win additional prizes, including $1,000 college scholarships.

All participants of the FLC Science Fair will be awarded a field trip to Sea World San Antonio Friday, May 1.
