New chief

The Rockport Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD) recently elected its officers for 2021.

Matthew Grimes is the new chief. He has 13-plus years experience with the RVFD, after moving from his home in Illinois. He has served as sergeant at arms, training coordinator, captain, and assistant chief. He is married with two children.

Aaron Guerrero will serve as assistant chief.

Captain Gillian Cox will continue in her role as Public Information officer.

Other Captains are Arnold Laird, John Carvajal, and Kenneth Reeves

Emma Thomas is treasurer, and Emily Guerrero is secretary.

The RVFD’s goals in 2021 are to be a safety conscious, professional organization while striving to be a leader in the fire service and the community. Through professionalism, dedication and training the members of the RVFD will work hard to set goals and reach them as a team.

The mission of the RVFD is to save lives and protect property. It is committed to providing resident the best possible service in a courteous, professional and cost-effective manner, to assure that every person who contacts the fire department receives satisfaction to the best of its ability.
