The Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD) joins 1,024 school districts throughout Texas to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month; ACISD Superintendent Dr. Joshua Garcia announced Tuesday, Jan. 5, his first day as acting Superintendent.

“Our school board members are volunteers who shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices for our district, all without pay. Their goal is always focused on the future success of the children in our district,” said Garcia. “Celebrating School Board Recognition Month is one way to say thanks for all they do.”

The ACISD board is responsible for an annual budget of a 41 million dollar budget, 3,010 students, and 465 employees across four campuses.

Board members serving the ACISD are President Ray Garza, Vice President Kenny Cruzan, Secretary Michaela Alston, Eli Ramos, Bonni Randall, Cindy Robbins and Jeremy Saegert.

“It’s more important than ever before that communities support public education so that today’s students are prepared to be productive citizens and the leaders of tomorrow,” Garcia continued. “Please take a moment and tell a school board member, ‘Thanks for caring about our children and giving so much to our community.’ Let them know we support them and their dedicated service is recognized and truly appreciated.”
