The Rockport-Fulton High School (RFHS) varsity cheer team recently brought home several awards and recognitions from cheer camp in Corpus Christi.

They received a first place trophy for sideline cheer and a second place trophy for camp dance routine.

The squad was also awarded the most prestigious award given at camp, “The Leadership Award”.

The Leadership Award is a peer award, where each squad at camp is asked, “If you could not be a part of your squad, which squad would you most like to be a part of?”

From responses of other cheer squads in attendance, the RFHS varsity cheer team was answered the most.

Becca Lawing, Lorraine Soto, and Sumer Garcia were named All-American Cheerleaders. Landyn Barton was named All-American as a mascot.

Soto, Zoie Cisneros, Lawing, and Garcia were also given the “Pin it Forward” award for leadership shown at camp.

Soto received an invitation to try out for the Universal Cheerleaders Association staff.

Members of the RFHS cheer squad are Abbi Busack, Faith Do, Soto, Cisneros, Layden Hatcher, Lauriann Whetstone, Shauna Whetstone, Riley Whitstine, Audrey Chupe, Garcia, Lawing, Olevia McDaniel, Stehle Snyder, Kalia Flaherty, Yesenia Trejo, and Barton.

Candice King and Tiffany Wood coach the squad.
