The theme this year for the Rockport Center for the Arts’ (RCA) ArtSpace Summer Art Camp for Kids and Teens was “Grow your Creative Spirit”. The last of four weeklong sessions was held this past week. “We hosted three camps per week for a total of 12 sessions,” said RCA Education Coordinator Anna Galluzzi. There were 257 participants (maximum allowed 312), including 30 from outside Aransas County. “The camp is offered free of charge, funded by grants from multiple foundations, local businesses, and 40 local families (patrons of the RCA),” said Galluzzi. “Not including staff time, annual costs for the RCA’s Youth Education programs is $48,000.” A charitable giving campaign launched in October of last year raised $53,000 to offset these costs.
