Dear editor:

The Humane Society & Adoption Center of Rockport-Fulton has been blessed to receive grants from Castaways since 2004. I would like to thank this remarkable organization, as well as its outstanding volunteers, for the continuous efforts to assist the Rockport-Fulton community and Aransas County.

Two weeks ago, we were again happy recipients of a grant from Castaways. At the distribution, Bruce Goodlock, the organization’s treasurer, announced the annual dollar breakdown of intake and outgo. The crowd was “blown away” with the numbers. Castaways brought in $1,300,000 in 2019. They distributed approximately $800,000 to the five partner churches and presented 33 non-profit organizations with approximately $400,000 in grants.

For the size of our town, I think they deserve a “standing ovation” for a job VERY well done.

Since their inception in 1972, Castaways’ dedicated volunteers continue to give back to our most fortunate community.

God bless Castaways and their mission.

Sincerely,

Kathy Noble

President, Humane Society & Adoption Center of Rockport-Fulton
