Dear editor:

If you're wondering why the drainage in our area is a problem, it just might start with our other major problem in our beautiful city, LITTER!

Dear editor:

I am very disgusted and disappointed in your opinion piece and how you treated Dr. Anthony Fauci. This man has given 50 years of his life to our country. He has a degree in medicine, science and immunology. If you didn’t already know, medicine and science is an ongoing learning curve. NOBODY, REPEAT NOBODY has all the answers. In case you also did not know, COVID 19 has been with us less than two years and we have a vaccine that works. You are too young to remember the polio outbreak in the 50s. Ninety-five percent of people alive today were not around for the 1918 flu epidemic. Our world is not stagnant and as long as we have people on our planet there will be changes, i.e. epidemics, wars, climate change because of the natural cycle of life and stupid choices we make as human beings.

Thank you for taking the grocery cart for the person in the parking lot. Now give credit where is due to a man who cares about you, your family, and our world. Dr. Fauci is a hero. Dr. Fauci is a patriot. He is not a god and never claimed to be. Those are your words.

In case you didn’t know the following is info about Dr. Fauci.

As a physician with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fauci has served the American public health sector in various capacities for more than 50 years, and has acted as an advisor to every U.S. president since Ronald Reagan. He became director of the NIAID in 1984 and has made contributions to HIV/AIDS research and other immunodeficiency diseases, both as a research scientist and as the head of the NIAID. From 1983 to 2002, Fauci was one of the world’s most frequently-cited scientists across all scientific journals. In 2008, President George W. Bush awarded Fauci the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States, for his work on the AIDS relief program PEPFAR.

Dear editor:

Every day “We the People” are bombarded with directives, laws propaganda, and shaming that tell us what we should and should not do, what we should or should not think, what we should and should not say. That bombardment is coming from the media, which we no longer trust, and a two-party federal system on a mission for power oblivious to thinking American citizens. When did it become okay for our elected official, our political servants, to behave like they are our leaders or bosses?

At the whims of one special interest group or another, politicians use their own power structure (one not granted by “We the People”) to tell us what the new rules, laws, morals, and structure we should be following today and communicate them via the press and big tech; purposely, crippling or belittling “We the People”.

We the people do not burn or loot our neighbor’s stores or allow laws to be broken for political ends. We the people do not fear our neighbors or friends because we do not look alike. We the people do not make mandates that hinder other people from enjoying freedom. We the people do not spread fear that takes away rights from anyone.

Purchased politicians, media, special interests, and big tech own all those things; the same people who have changed their own mandates in order to make their political agendas stick. These purchased politicians, media, special interests, and big tech are the ones using fear, fear, fear.

Wear a mask, don’t wear a mask; get vaccinated, don’t get vaccinated. Give up your constitutional rights, because you’re scared. Hate your neighbor, police, Republicans, and Democrats; hate the wall, love the wall; hate the rich, hate the poor; hate Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, and Orientals – the “We the People”. Then accuse us of being un-American because we don’t follow what they want.

Hate SUVs, Prius, plastic, paper, oil, Coke, Pepsi, science, religion; East Coast, West Coast, Rural America; big cities. Taxes, taxes, taxes; compliance, compliance, compliance.

Ben Franklin said, “Those who would give up essential Liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” We the people are not afraid. We have had it with the media, special interests, big tech, Marxists, and Communists.

YOU ARE NOT “WE THE PEOPLE.” DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO THINK, AND DON’T TELL ME HOW TO LIVE.

We the people are going to make you do your jobs. This is not a request; it is a mandate, because you swore to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States of America.

Thomas Jefferson said, “I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.”

Don’t tell me what to do, do your jobs.

Dear editor:

I am glad that Rockport City government is proud of the City of Rockport. I am too. But while driving by City offices on the 35 Bypass, I could not help but notice that proper etiquette is not being followed in flying the American, Texas and Rockport flags.

According to The Flag Code (Section 4 U.S.C ss 7), proper positioning indicates that no flag may be flown above the U.S. flag or to its right when flown at the same height in any U.S. state or territory.

When flown with State and organizational flags on separate flagpoles, the U.S. flag should be flown above and to the center of the other flags.

I hope Rockport officials consider correcting the positioning of the three flags.
