• Aransas County commissioners approved a memorandum of understating between the County and City of Rockport regarding the proposed law enforcement center.
• Rockport Public Works Director Billy Dick proposed giving the City’s two elevated water storage tanks a light blue tint, and adding the City’s logo on opposite sides of each of the storage tanks.
• The City of Rockport was investigating holding joint elections with the Aransas County Independent School District (ACISD).
• The Rockport City Council approved a 180-day moratorium on eight-liner machines.
• The Aransas County Historical Society announced plans to host Rejuvenation 2003 in an effort to revive and increase membership in the organization.
• Flags were flown at half mast in honor the seven astronauts killed when space shuttle Columbia disintegrated during re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere.
10 years ago this week
• The majority of bullying reported in the ACISD came from Rockport-Fulton Middle School.
• Site work for phase 1 of the Islands of Rockport development on Business SH 35 was underway.
• An interlocal agreement for shoreline enhancement between Aransas County and the Aransas County Navigation District (ACND) for Little Bay was approved. Funding for the work would come from grants funds received by the County and ACND.
• The ACND approved seeking request for proposals regarding professional consulting services for development of a marketing and promotion plan for district facilities.
• It was announced the Fulton Mansion would close for extensive preservation work.
