This is the first time I’ve ever written to the editor.
I would like to thank the City of Rockport for the wonderful pool that is made available for us year round.
I have lived in Rockport more than two years and was invited by a friend last summer to a water aerobics class.
I found it to be the best exercise workout for $5. It was fun, refreshing, and the nicest people ever. Plus, my balance improved. I’m in my 70s and had been having trouble walking.
This year the pool has added yoga classes in the baby pool, and strengthening classes. They have lap swimming, water walking classes, and my favorite – kick boxing, all in the water!
So, I just feel I should thank the City of Rockport for providing a great service for residents and vacationers, all for $5 a class.
It’s the best deal in town.
(Editor’s note: The City of Rockport operates the pool. The city, Aransas County, and the Town of Fulton contribute funds for the pool’s operation under an interlocal agreement.)
This morning, Pam Stranahan, her grandson Nick, and I went to Heritage Park at 8:30 a.m. to walk across the Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge. This was such a great experience, I wanted to let your readers know about it.
Organized walks take place on the first Sunday each month at 8:30 a.m., leaving from Heritage Park. The total walk is 3.4 miles, 1.5 miles up and down one side of the bridge and then .4 mile for the cross under. There is a four-pipe handrail on the non-traffic side, and a concrete barrier on the traffic side, and the walking lane is wide enough for two people. The view is just magnificent.
If you have ever wondered what an osprey or gull see when they fly, you have to make this walk. Of course, you can walk over the bridge any time, but remember it will be coming down when the new bridge is finished.
