Dear editor:

Thanks for sharing some of your early memories and weaving a narrative with heartfelt emotions that are as relevant now as they were to you years ago.  This country has some serious racial issues … and yes, we need “local leadership”, but also national leadership, which starts at the top, which in my opinion is sorely lacking.

Dear editor:

The Right Reverend Mariann Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, said she was “outraged” by Trump’s use of St. John’s as a prop. “I can’t believe what my eyes are seeing tonight,” she said. “What on earth did we just witness? The President just used a Bible … and one of the churches of my diocese without permission as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything our churches stand for.”

Dear Mr. Probst,

After reading the article in your latest edition entitled "3 poems for the American people", I can no longer subscribe to your newspaper. I can no longer tolerate being labeled a racist, or worse, because I am white, and I will not accept the notion that all cops, including my family members and friends that are on the force, are corrupt and racist. Mr. Miller have every right to his opinion, and you have every right to pander to that nonsense, and I have every right to terminate my relationship with your rag. Being bi-racial may predispose Mr. Miller to racial bias, but it doesn't him the right to be blatantly ignorant. That's his choice, as it is yours to perpetuate his bias by printing his racial stupidity in your newspaper, apparently to assuage your white privilege guilt. For anyone, of any race, to be assaulted or die because of racial bias and should be punished to the fullest extent, but to paint every cop and every white person with the same racist brush is as dishonest, and as abhorrent in its own right. Please cancel my subscription immediately.
