Dear editor:

Your editorial was eye opening. I had no idea Ms. Barnebey was still not prosecuting cases from the Rockport Police Department (RPD).

I found her responses to be a case of double-speak. While she claims to have been accepting cases since Nov. 15, 2018, she is still waiting for the RPD to be independently audited before prosecuting those cases ... meaning she is STILL not prosecuting those cases as of Feb. 2019.

Furthermore, her replies to your various information requests were very unprofessional (in terms of her personal attacks on you) and acrimonious. She comes across as defensive, which implies she knows she’s on rocky ground.

As a public official, I am quite disappointed in her refusal to prosecute leaving the public (which she was elected to protect) vulnerable.

Thank you, Mike, for trying to get our district attorney working again to protect us.
