Mary Ward Gembler

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ward Gembler announces her peaceful passing at her home on November 8, 2020.

Mary was survived by her children Alfred “Sandy” Frank Gembler, Jr (Cheryl), and Laura Gembler Alexander (John M.). Mary “Mammy” will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Mary Dawn Rihn Whidden (Greg), and Zachary Bryan Rihn, and by her great-grandchildren, Kaelan “KJ” Jae Whidden, and Kallie Hope Whidden.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, the love of her life, Alfred Frank Gembler. He was a WWII Pilot of a B17 in the Army Air Force. And she loved all of her pets she had over the years. Any pet would be lucky to have been a pet of Mary's.

Mary was blessed with a calling into the nursing field at a very young age. She received her RN BSN in Nursing from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, Texas; also taught there in the school of nursing. She worked in many of the diverse areas of the nursing field including her favorite, Labor & Delivery, at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio. She loved vacationing in Rockport, Tx and moved there 40 years ago.

Mary and Alfred both donated their body to Medical Science to UTHSCSA.

Those who desire may make a memorial donation to her “favorite store” Castaways in Rockport, or Rockport Cemetery Association.
