In loving memory of Dorothy “Doady” Bailey Olmsted Drinkwater

On August 26, 2019, Dorothy “Doady” Bailey Olmsted Drinkwater, 96, passed peacefully at home in bed with her cat Jerry Lee and attended by her daughter Deborah. She was born in Middletown, Connecticut January 21, 1923 where she was educated. She attended the University of Connecticut where she met and married Roger W Olmsted who was killed in action at Iwo Jima. She married Henry “Hank” Drinkwater May 3, 1947 and moved to Dallas where they raised their family. They retired to Rockport in 1989. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, RCC, KAYC, KA Garden and KA Women's Club. She loved reading, sewing, needle work, painting, gardening, flipping houses, tennis, coloring, playing games and especially Mah Jongg which she taught and played for 30 years.

She is survived by her children; Betsy (Stanford) Armstrong, Deborah Klassen, Sally (Russell) Westbury, and Tom (Annette) Drinkwater; grandchildren Bailey Hester, Kylie Woolridge, Payton Johnson, T.J. Drinkwater, Emily Snow, Erin Drinkwater, Max Klassen, Claire Hobbs; and seven great grandchildren. She never met anyone who didn't become enamored with the sparkle in her eye, the smile on her lips or the genuine love in her heart.

A service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockport on September 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., following a rosary at 9:00 a.m. A celebration of a life well lived will be held at the Rockport Country Club from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Church or school, the Humane Society and Adoption Center of Rockport, Harbor Hospice or a charity of your choice.
