A special vaccination clinic through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10 at the Rockport Beach Park. A portion of The Park will be closed to outside traffic and only those individuals who have signed up through the Wait List and been contacted in advance with a scheduled appointment will be able to drive into the Beach Park.

Approximately 1,000 vaccines will be coming from the Region 11 DSHS office in Harlingen that morning. The local government entities and Aransas County Medical Services have been coordinating with DSHS to set up the location and contact eligible individuals.

Volunteers will be reaching out to individuals on the list on Monday to schedule appointments for Wednesday. If no one is home, they will leave a voice message. If the party doesn’t return the call before the 1,000 appointments have been made, they will remain on the list for the next clinic.

On Tuesday, March 9, approximately 100 registered individuals over the age of 75 will participate in a drive-through vaccination clinic at Paws and Taws. The program is part of the Governor’s “Save Our Seniors” program and is administered by the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

“While we’re pleased that they are listening to us about the need in Aransas County and providing us with these two clinics, we’ve got a long way to go. There are almost 11,000 people registered on the Wait List,” noted Aransas County Judge Burt Mills. “We’re working hard to get more doses into the County and into the pharmacies and doctors’ offices.”

Anyone who receives a vaccination on Tuesday or Wednesday, will automatically be signed up to receive a second dose at a later date. Until the actual vaccines arrive, there is no way of knowing which one will be administered.

Residents are invited to put their name and phone number on a list to be contacted for future vaccination events by going to https://forms.gle/kLvfut9h1S7nC2759. If a resident does not have access to a computer, they should send a letter with their name and contact phone number to: Vaccination, Aransas County: 2840 Hwy 35 N. Rockport, TX 78382. Information will not be taken by phone from any entities.

This list does not guarantee you the vaccine, it simply lets us know you need the vaccine. The Aransas County Medical Services, (ACMSI) is not a COVID 19 vaccine provider. We are only compiling a list to assist our community. Please continue to find vaccines wherever available.

This list is for priorities 1A, 1B and teaching/childcare staff only. This program is separate from the vaccinations being offered by local pharmacies and others. This list does not guarantee anyone the vaccine, it simply lets organizers know you need the vaccine.

As a reminder, Aransas County residents are NOT restricted to receiving the vaccine within the County.
