With the help of residents of the Coastal Oaks RV Park, the Rockport Police Department (RPD) arrested Zakry Tabor on Dec. 14. Upon searching his parents’ residence, the RPD found many items that were associated with previous cases, including car burglaries, home invasion, and shoplifting.
The parents are not suspected of involvement in any of the son’s crimes.
“This is a major coup for residents of Rockport and the RPD,” said Police Chief Greg Stevens. “We are now able to close out more than eight case files and residents can rest easier knowing he is behind bars.”
The chief added, “Just because this bad apple is locked up does not mean residents should relax. People should still be careful to keep valuables out of sight, lock their vehicles, and lock their houses.”
The items will be cataloged, and the victims will be notified. Any pieces that have not been reported or associated with open cases will be listed on the RPD’s web site.
Tabor is being held at the Aransas County Detention Center. He has previously been charged with burglary of a habitation and burglary of vehicles.
