New chief

Rockport Mayor Pat Rios administered the Oath of Office to new Rockport Police Chief Gregory Stevens at the Tuesday, June 25 regular meeting of the Rockport City Council. Alongside Stevens, from left, are twin daughters Abigail and Allison, and his wife, Randi, who pinned the “chief” badge on her husband. There were more than 60 applicants for the job, which became available when former Chief Tim Jayroe announced his retirement. Stevens, 49, has more than 30 years of combined experience in civilian and military law enforcement. He recently retired as chief of the Lubbock Police Department.
